Notes on how we come together to eat, drink, and mark the moments that matter.

About

The Gathering Journal is an independent publication about the culture of coming together. We write about events, celebrations, and the countless small rituals of hospitality, how people gather to eat, to drink, and to mark the moments that matter across a life.

Our interest is less in trends than in the enduring things. Why humans feast, what makes a table feel welcoming, how a menu is planned and paced, and why the same deep patterns of gathering appear in so many different traditions. We approach all of it as students of the subject, not as authorities above it.

Everything here is written to be genuinely useful to anyone planning a gathering of their own, whether that is a dinner for six or a celebration for two hundred. We share what we have learned from watching, hosting, and thinking about how people come together, and we hope it helps you host with a little more ease and a little more meaning.
